Have you laughed at the antics of the somewhat shy, weird and awkward astrophysicist, Raj Koothrapalli in the famous CBS television series, ‘The Big Bang Theory’? Well, Kunal Nayyar, the brilliant actor who portrayed the role and gained major popularity with it is a brilliant actor and there’s no doubt about it. But do you know that he is in fact a Delhi boy?

Kunal Nayyar was born into an Indian Punjabi family in London in 1981. When he was three years old, his family returned to India and he grew up in Delhi. Kunal completed his studies from St. Columbia’s School, Delhi and then moved to the United States to study finance. It was after participating in the American College Theater Festival that he realized that he loved acting and from there on started his adventure of a lifetime.

The talented actor first gained recognition in the US from Rajeev Joseph’s 2006 play, ‘Huck & Holden.’ Shortly after, he was cast for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as one of the main characters and that shot up his acting graph significantly.

Kunal has not only acted in movies like ‘Dr. Cabbie,’ ‘The Scribbler,’ ‘Consumed,’ ‘Sweetness in the Belly,’ ‘Spaceman’ and more but also lent his voice to characters in films like ‘Trolls,’ ‘Trolls Band Together’ and ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift.’

His notable work in television includes shows like ‘Drop The Mic,’ ‘The Late Late Show,’ ‘Sanjay And Craig’ and ‘NCIS’ among others.

In his career up till now, he has been nominated for the prestigious ‘BAFTA TV Awards,’ ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ and won ‘Best Male Lead in a Play on the West Coast’ for ‘Garland Award.’
